We encourage you to apply directly to our program by the November 15th deadline. It is the only way to ensure that you receive full consideration from our selection committee.
We are the only independent merit scholarship at Duke maintaining a pre-matriculation award process. Any student who wishes to be considered for the Robertson at Duke must apply for the Robertson directly using our application by November 15th.
No. Your Robertson application needs to be submitted by the Robertson deadline. Your UNC-Chapel Hill and/or Duke admissions applications should abide by the respective institution’s application deadlines.
The Robertson Scholars Leadership Program no longer accepts standardized test scores of any kind.
For an application to be considered it must contain two (2) letters of recommendation. We will NOT ACCEPT more than two letters.
One recommender should be able to speak directly to your leadership abilities, the second can be from a teacher, coach, counselor, employer or other person that you choose. You may elect to use the same letters you used in the Common or Coalition Applications, but please keep in mind that we look for letters of recommendation that can directly address leadership.
You should NOT submit letters of recommendation from friends, peers, family members or friends of your family.
We will not accept letters of recommendations emailed or faxed directly from applicants. When you apply to the Robertson, you will submit names and email addresses of your recommenders, a unique link will then be sent directly to the recommender to submit their letter on your behalf.
No. We will not accept supplemental materials or updates.
Our admission review cycle is extremely short. We will not accept updates to applications.

The Robertson Scholars Leadership Program provides eight semesters of full tuition, room and board, and most mandatory fees for Scholars at Duke and UNC-Chapel Hill. Scholars also have access to generous funding for up to three summer experiences and for up to two semesters of study abroad.
No. Transfer students are not eligible to apply for the Robertson Program.
No. Our program is strictly limited to undergraduate education.
