Since joining RSLP how have you grown as a leader?
Whether solo traveling to Paris on a Lead Grant, rafting with NOLS, or teaching 6th grade science in New Orleans, the common thread running through my Robertson experiences has been growing through uncertainty. Most transformative was finding my “teacher’s voice” during community summer, which reinvented my self-image as a leader and showed me I can do hard things. Above all, I’ve learned to trust myself more deeply and let my values—not fear of failure—guide the way I lead.
I’m committed to servant leadership and to using research, policy, medicine, and education to improve the lives of the most vulnerable. Robertson has allowed me to explore research beyond Carolina—sharing my sickle cell work with the NC Governor’s Council through the Duke School of Nursing and designing a low-vision–accessible product line with Home Depot through Bass Connections. Looking ahead to Exploration Summer, I’m eager to grow as a leader and aspiring healthcare professional by pursuing doula or EMT certification and learning from comparative healthcare systems abroad to bring insights back to the U.S.
