How do you believe you’ll create transformational change in your community?

I believe that leadership should be measured in the form of impact, and not recognition or monetary value. In my community, I desire to lead both from the front and behind, knowing when to step up and when to step back. I want to take risks and push the boundaries to present the best information service that I can to the black community. I am going to target the misinformation that stifles the political, economic and social power that black Americans possess through accessible information. I have always been interested heavily in the narratives of others around me, and finding innovative ways to lead. I was always told “If it ain’t broke don’t fix it”, but I believe that progress is never made without trying something new. With the Robertson Scholars Program I hope to embrace those opportunities to take risks and lead differently.
