Senior Carsten Pran wins Duke Sustainability Award

Senior Carsten Pran is being recognized for his commitment to sustainability at Duke University, and has been honored as one of this year’s Outstanding Leadership in Sustainability winners. The awards recognize students, faculty, and staff at the University who are furthering the achievement of Duke’s environmental goals.

Carsten is a member of Duke Green Devils, and has been involved in sustainability efforts since his first year on campus. As an intern in the Office of Sustainability at Duke, Carsten developed the Sustainable Duke’s Climate Action Plan module, an online training tool for first-year students aimed at giving them a better understanding of Duke’s sustainability and climate neutrality goals. Carsten also used his talents to enhance the communication and media presence of Duke Green Devils. His nominator shared, “Carsten has continuously prioritized utilizing the power of imagery to teach, engage and create community.”
