G2 Venture Partners – Full Time Analyst 2024 Start

Blake O’Connor (Robertson ’14) shares the following opportunity on behalf of G2 Venture Partners, COO Valerie Shen.

Full Time Analyst Position – 2024 Start

G2 Venture Partners is a venture capital firm that invests in transformative technology companies at their inflection points to build a sustainable future. We back amazing technology companies that grow the economy while reducing emissions. G2 spun out of Kleiner Perkins in 2017, and currently has ~$1B in assets under management. The founding team has been investing together for ~15 years.

This investing apprenticeship role will expose the Analyst to every aspect of venture capital.  While shadowing and supporting two G2 Partners, the Analyst will:

  • Meet brilliant entrepreneurs as they pitch climate tech startups that plan to change the world.
  • Evaluate exciting technologies and develop viewpoints on how they will transform traditional industries to be more sustainable.
  • Participate in (and vote in) Investment Committee discussions.
  • Prepare for (and work on follow-ups to) portfolio company Board meetings to assist G2 Partners in their roles as Board Directors advising firms on their most important considerations (strategy, organization, financings, M&A, etc).
  • Help portfolio companies improve the economic engines that drive their businesses.
  • Communicate with the institutions / people who invested in G2’s funds.

Successful Analysts will:

  • Be curious, enjoy figuring out how technologies, industries, and companies work, and not be satisfied by superficial answers.
  • Have the horsepower to quickly learn new techniques and tools, identifying the right approach to solve any problem in front of them.
  • Crisply communicate conclusions and ideas, be prepared to support views with data, work collaboratively in a team-based environment.
  • Be self-motivated and take initiative in seeking ways to contribute; Fix stuff that is broken without being asked.
  • Have a “whatever it takes” attitude; Willing to doggedly grind through data and research to discover a critical insight and fully understand the situation.
  • Show genuine interest in sustainability technology businesses.

If you want to learn about venture capital and growth investing in sustainability technology companies, there is no better job.  You will get to see everything.

Full-time starting Summer 2024 or earlier. Expectation of 2-3 years in this role, after which the Analyst will continue at G2 as an Investor, pursue further education, or transition to operating roles at a portfolio company or other startup.

Our office is in Portola Valley, California.  Most of the team works in the office 3-4 days a week. We expect Analysts to be based in the Bay Area – this is not a remote role.
